Envirosystems Group Cleans Up After Car Restorators

A car’s exterior is the first thing one notices.  Having chipped and damaged paint can make a car look like an older car and can be an eyesore.  Car restoration is another area where customers turn to Envirosystems Group to provide the best blast equipment and booths on the market. Recently, a high quality restoration shop in Calgary, AB, Canada, called on us to build a blast booth with all equipment including media reclaim and dust collection.  Many car shops produce contaminates in the air as a result of the paint being taken off and placed on vehicles.   An effective dust collector can help auto body shop owners and operators reduce emissions of hazardous air pollutants, dust, and volatile organic compounds that may affect auto body repair shop employees, their families, customers, and the community.
The use of an effective dust collection system can definitely reduce cost.  Although many shops use other methods to reduce shop emissions, an Envirosystems Group device can help in bringing down the bill for hazardous waste disposal, and allows for recyclability of any reusable solvents if necessary.

Restorators are now using a Envirosystems Group technology called plastic media blasting (PMB).  This is a dry abrasive blasting process, designed to replace chemical paint stripping and conventional sand blasting. The PMB process does not use hard damaging abrasives, but soft reusable plastic particles to strip paints.  This allows the low pressure and relatively soft plastic medium to have virtually no effect on the surfaces beneath the paint.  The pollution prevention benefits of this technology as compared to sandblasting can be reflected in the reuse of the blasting media, which greatly reduces the volume of spent media generated. When compared to chemical paint stripping, this technology eliminates the generation of waste solvent.

Envirosystems Group built a booth to the customer’s particular size requirements.  In we built a PMB and two 16,000CFM dust collection units to keep the booth clear while blasting. We recommended our StripMaster series for this project.

The StripMaster Series offers the very best of surface preparation and dry media stripping equipment. It removes virtually all surface coatings, build-up and contamination problems.  With the Stripmaster Series, we can custom design systems for the automobile body shops and other industries that need to remove surface coating without mechanical abrasives.  We are proud to have companies call us to build these types of systems, as we know they are looking for high quality equipment to match their high quality workmanship.

Enhancing Air Quality

Collecting dust and other impurities in the air or from gas is something many industries continue to improve yearly.

It's a necessary requirement in many industries and the composite industry, which includes materials such a fiberglass and natural fibers, is no exception.  Air borne dust is not only a housekeeping  expense but will also reduce worker productivity and contaminate one's products.

At Environsytems Group, we manufacture dust collectors aimed at containing the large amounts of contaminates and impurities that can fill workspace.  One important reason manufactures need a dust collection system is to avoid the health risk.  Inhaling contaminated dust can develop into respiratory illnesses as well as aggravate existing respiratory conditions. There are various types of composite dust that can also cause irritation to uncovered skin surface.  Many people do not know but dust can stay suspended for hours. Exposing employees to this type of environment will certainly result in a bunch of compensation claims or even possibly a law suit. Providing a dust collection system at machinery as well as self-contained ceiling suspended dust collection systems will keep the shop air virtually dust free.

Our state-of the-art dust collection systems range from self contained units, such as our PACS 10K; to stand alone work stations like the Airwall Contamination Control Booth.  These products improve air quality by removing 99.9% of airborne sub-micron particulates which exceeds current OSHA and EPA permissible exposure levels for most materials.

Uses for the Airwall with CCB include: material handling and manufacturing procedures, dry chemical processing, powder coating, grinding, welding, sanding and fiberglass repair.

The benefits offered by Envirosystems Group Airwall CCB systems include:
  • Extremely low operating cost - minimize energy cost
  • Isolate the problem - removes 99.9% of airborne sub-micron particulate
  • Simple and inexpensive installation cost
  • Automatic filter  cleaning
  • Improve productivity and workers safety - no dust migration outside the booth

Environmentally Safe Industrial Surface Remover

As the world's leading brewer, AB InBev which includes Michelob, is meant to be enjoyed responsibly by those of legal drinking age.  They produce a product that brings people together, while at the same time conveying the message that good times must be balanced by great responsibility.

It's always good to see a company follow through with the commitment of being responsible, especially where the environment is in question.  With *48.3% Market Share in the United States, it takes hundreds of trucks in the distributors delivery fleet to distribute the cans and bottles across the United States.  This amount of driving can really put a tremendous amount of wear and tear on trucks. And being a the #1 beer provider in America, with several different products, trying to keep the brand graphics in premier condition can be a daunting task.

So how do you remove decals from ground transportation vehicles in a responsible way?  Plastic Media Blasting (PMB).  This form of plastic media stripping, similar to sand blasting without the damage that is normally a result of sand blasting.  PMB is the quickest, safest, surface remover, and it's reusable.  Tough to remove vinyl decals are stripped from the surfaces of aluminum, steel, fiberglass, magnesium, composites, plastic, and rubber with simplicity and economically.
I know what you are thinking; what about paint, and enamel?  Plastic Media Blasting is the surface removal solution for not just paint and enamel, but lacquer, polyurethane, powder coatings, and primers can also be safely removed without damage to the underlying surface.

These pictures show the AB InBev Michelob truck having its decal removed with plastic media. In just few hours the brand logo is removed from the aluminum truck without harming the surface.

The Land Transportation Refinishing Industry solution for protecting the environment is plastic media blasting and Envirosystems Group (ESG) the source with it's Stripmaster Blasting Equipment specifically designed to ensure accuracy, speed, and great responsibility.

The Importance of Dust Collection Systems

Dust collection Systems can become important parts of a company's environmental safety and industrial hygiene program.

One of the important factors companies should keep in mind is health risk.  Inhaling hazardous dust created through certain work environments can develop into respiratory illnesses.

Without an efficient dust collection system, much of the contaminated air can cause irritation to an uncovered skin surface. Providing a dust collection system fit for machinery as will keep the work environment air virtually dust free.

Unlike the typical office environment, the air inside a manufacturing facility may contain particulates, gases and vapors or a combination of these contaminants. As a result, the atmosphere can become hazardous and even lethal.

Recently, Envirosystems Group helped *Bombardier Aerospace –The world’s third largest civil aircraft manufacturer– Mexico with their industrial hygiene efforts by providing four custom production booths. Bombardier Aerospace Mexico, had a need for four separate finishing booths in order to provide positive air quality during the aircraft paint process.

The first was a Paint Booth, a Paint Prep Booth, a Dust Collection Booth for Trimming and Drilling of composite parts and structure, and the fourth booth was a Blast Booth.

Envirosystems Group listened to the customers requirements, designed the booths and equipment to handle those requirements, installed all booths and equipment, and trained the staff on all aspects of the booths.

Businesses now get money once reserved for government.

Consultant, Susan Ward (20 years’ experience in business and technology development;  access to key policy makers, decision makers and funds keepers at state and federal level) says there is a shifting paradigm; "U.S. government funding for new composites technology projects is still out there, if a company has the right project, presented with the right strategy, to the right government agency."

Envirosystems Group, LLC has experienced the frustrations of clients who have a need for finding the best financial resources for funding composites projects.  To the point that we now offer 100% Financing for our dust collection equipment (Airwall), blasting systems / paint and surface remove equipment  (Stripmaster), including our paint / finishing booths.

Read Susan's full article: Renewable energy: The carrot and the stick at Composite World (.com) and perhaps you company will be like Fisker Automotive who recently received a $528.7 million (USD) loan from the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) for the development and production of two lines of composites-intensive, plug-in, hybrid-electric vehicles.
